About Le Jardin in Letchworth Garden City
Letchworth was the first of the UK’s garden cities founded in the early 1900’s to give its’ residents the very best of town and country living. Today Letchworth is a charming, semi-rural location surrounded by beautiful green spaces to walk, cycle and enjoy the fresh air. Just ten minutes walk from Le Jardin you can explore Howard Park and Gardens or Broadway Gardens. In Howard Park you will find mature trees and formal gardens as well as a quiet area for reading or relaxation, lawns for family activities and organised bowls. Broadway Gardens were redesigned in 2003 to commemorate the town’s centenary and offer walks with great views.
The Garden City Greenway is a 13-mile route around town and all these areas are protected by Letchworth’s Garden City status, ensuring they will enjoyed by generations to come. There’s plenty to do in Letchworth, a town with a unique heritage and heart rich in high street stores and speciality shops. There are a variety of cafés and restaurants when you fancy eating out or meeting friends for a drink. North Herts Leisure Centre is just 10 minutes by bus from Le Jardin with swimming, badminton and a range of fitness classes. Letchworth also has an outdoor heated swimming pool, popular in the summertime. There is an art deco four-screen cinema and an arts centre. There are also additional theatres with packed programmes of musicals, plays and comedy just a short journey away in either Hitchin or Stevenage.
