National Apprenticeship Week

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we’re celebrating Touchstone’s Apprentices who bring so much to our business. They prove you can be any age and at any stage of your career, and still have the opportunity to benefit from an apprenticeship.

National Apprenticeship Week

Alex Gray works in our Compliance Department, studying for a Business Administration L3 Standard, which she’s nearly completed. When Alex decided to undertake an apprenticeship, she was nervous because of her age, and the misconception that you have to be a school leaver to be an apprentice, but she quickly saw that wasn’t the case. As well as on the job training, she has a tutor who visits her once a month at Touchstone. She explains:

“Being an apprentice has given me experience in every field of administration. You learn a bit of everything, whether that’s project management or invoicing and that means you’re not going in blind. Touchstone is also such an accepting workplace.”

Kamilla Melki is our Apprentice Operations Assistant, she believes being an apprentice has given her a fantastic opportunity to broaden her horizons and meet a wide range of people. She says:

“My favourite part of being an apprentice is being able to travel to various properties in the UK where I get to meet a variety of wonderful people in the industry.

“The support I receive from my brilliant team in London has been incredible as they have helped me evolve my skills and take on more responsibilities. I enjoy the customer side too, getting to meet our customers has helped me develop my social skills and flourish in my role.”

Rachel Trew has worked at Touchstone for the last 15 years and has recently been given the opportunity to undertake an APM Project Management Qualification, as part of the Apprenticeship Levy. For Rachel, the qualification will allow her to formalise some of the on the job Project Management she already undertakes. She’s looking forward to building her experience and skills and through the training getting to meet different people from all walks of life.
